Pastor Donnett Blake is a native of the Island of Jamaica. Pastor Blake received her early education in the schools of Claredon in the parish of St. Catherine. It was during her youthful years in Jamaica, that Pastor Blake’s parents heard and accepted the Advent Message. That decision on their part led to young Donnett’s introduction to Adventism and her subsequent baptism at the age of 17.
Pastor Blake migrated to the United States and pursued her college education at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI. In 1999, Pastor Blake received a BA degree in social Work. It was in the midst of her preparation to undertake studies for her MSW at Columbia University, that she felt the leading of God in a different direction. Pastor Blake subsequently entered the Theological Seminary at Andrews University and received the Master of Divinity degree in 2001.
After completing her seminary studies, Pastor Blake worked briefly as a case worker. In 2002, Pastor Blake was employed by the Northeastern Conference to serve as Chaplain for the Education Department. Pastor Blake’s responsibilities included counseling, preparing students for baptism, conducting Weeks of Prayer and filling varied preaching appointments.
On February 10, 2007, Pastor Blake was installed as the Assistant Pastor at Kingsboro Temple of Seventh-day Adventists. Pastor Blake is not only the first female Pastor appointed to Kingsboro, she is also the first female Pastor appointed in the Northeastern Conference.
Pastor Blake enjoys working with people and is dedicated to the work of transforming lives for the Kingdom of God. Among the many texts that have empowered Pastor Blake to forge ahead in spite of obstacles is:
Isaiah 41:10 –“Fear thou not; for I Am with thee: be not dismayed; for I Am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
